CECIL NOAKES DAY
---------------20 MARCH--------- 2010
CCHS event all welcome
Watsons Farm , Osmington Rd, Margaret River, WA
gates open 8-45am
Cecil Noakes an 88 year aged
horseman settled in Margaret River with his family when he was aged 6YO.
They ploughed, milked , seeded & cut hey , cleared the land
by means of horsepower. They were big giants of trees they cleared and Cecil
will have forgotten more than the average horsebloke knows. Cecil is not to
good on his feet nowadays but him and Sam have practiced the log stack moves
and feel the public , horse lovers will enjoy the day. This is an event will
never be repeated . there are other related horse demos on the day
include a cooper who will place iron rim on wooden horse wheel .
START 9-30 AM
Cecil on the pa while Sam Watson and horse are pulling logs and stacking logs.
this is a very dangerous operation ,
you must have well trained horses, you will never see this again in WA. around 11-00am
Jennette Newbold will be gearing a horse up in a cart , explaining the
different methods ,
how to fit the correct horse collar, correct horse for cart, and all things
related to horse and cart .
This would be exellent for people who are interested in driving horses and for
those that do drive
because if you are like me you tend to be a bit slack sometimes and forget
things .
bring your collar & or horse, with you????and let Jennette look at it
lunch break-------
you can bring your own or buy
[ By the way they have a great coffee machine there, made from good fresh
coffee beans]
remember please order meals 9757 8135 , Tahita/ Brent instruction on log snigging [pull]
Jeanette Newbold , will explain the gearing up of the horse, starting , points
score , how to ,etc
while watching Griff & MrBilly. This is a must for all that are entering the Dardanup Heritage Park working
horse show.
if you have brought your horse, which you are most welcome to do, instruction
will be given
don't forget to bring your swingtree, collar, chains etc . The Dardanup show
obstacle course will be explained.

RED HILL SHOWGROUNDS - Melway 190 J4
Gates Open at 7.30am (no earlier)
Come to the Red Hill Show and meet Diva!
Although Diva is only four years old, she is 1.75m (5ft 10 in) high from the ground to her shoulders and she weighs about 816k (1,800lbs). In spite of her impressive size, Diva has a gentle nature and loves making new friends. You may have already seen a photograph of her in the Herald Sun newspaper in an advertisement for the 2009 Royal Melbourne Show. She is well named because she loves posing for the camera.
Her real name is Valmont Moonrise Eclipse and she comes from a very well known family of champion Clydesdale horses. Actually her father is a bit of a playboy, but when his offspring are as beautiful as Diva, who can blame the ladies for seeking out his company.
Diva lives at Rye on the Mornington Peninsula; her reddish-brown and white colouring is known as blue-roan; she has beautiful white hairy legs and amazingly she has one big brown and one big blue eye.
Over recent years there has been a resurgence of interest in Clydesdale horses in Australia. The use of Clydesdales in brewery teams has greatly increased the public profile of the breed and this has meant a renewed interest at local shows. Clydesdales will be a feature of the 82nd Red Hill Show and you have a date to meet Diva and lots of her equally large and gorgeous friends at Red Hill on
Saturday, March 27th 2010.
There will also be a special display of antique harness and a beautifully re-conditioned carriage.
